Indiana native and hardcore troubadour Mike Martin has spent much of the last decade traveling in a van with his appropriately named band, The Beautiful Mess. A bona fide honky-tonk hero, there is scarcely a Lowcountry juke joint or music venue where Martin has not held court in recent years. Weaving country-rock infusions, Martin’s distinctive output embodies what Gram Parsons of The Byrds once described as “cosmic American music.” ”

Charleston, SC's Country Americana Band of the Year 2023 & 2024.

Mike Martin is one of the hottest artists coming out of Charleston in the last few years. After years of playing the streets, bars, and beaches of Charleston Martin got much deserved recognition the last two years winning Country Americana Band of the Year in 2024 for the second year in a row; along with Music Video of the Year. In 2023 they also won Song of the Year, and fiddle player Caryn Egan won Female Singer Songwriter of the Year in the Charleston City Paper in 2023.

In 2019 Martin was nominated for Artist, Song, & Video of the Year, along with a nomination for guitarist of the Year for Martin. In 2021 their new album ‘Home’ was picked in the writer’s picks for best album of ‘21. The band began a baptism by fire approach to the road, with a relentless schedule of touring and regular gigs. They are currently booking for festivals, clubs, and parties for 2024, and have been drawing good crowds wherever they go.

Charleston’s own honky-tonk heroes have cooked up something special with Home, leaning heavily on the many flavors of old-school country and early rock ‘n’ roll for their latest release. The entire album should be played loud and often. Charleston City Paper - Writer’s Picks Albums of the Year 2021

2022 was an explosive year for The Beautiful Mess releasing fiddler Caryn Egan’s Debut track ‘Barefoot Child’. The Beautiful Mess also made their debut appearance at The Bill Monroe Bluegrass Park, and played to a capacity crowd at Cannon Commons Amphitheatre opening for the legendary James McMurtry.

We’d love to work together to create a win-win concert for all of us, including the fans. Mike does 3 hour acoustic shows, or songwriter and original music showcases; as well as 3 hours of power sets reminiscent of a Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band rock revival experience including  covers of everything from Hank to Hendrix mixed in the magic. We look forward to hearing from you!
